I have surmised...

... that with the breathtaking stupidity, lack of common sense, inefficiency and rigidity of the websites and customer services of sistic, singtel and M1 (and sadly most other local get-ups) it is only a matter of time before we go back to being a kampong under the sultan's thumb. I don't get it - why can't we just COPY the way US and UK online ticketing websites work? If it ain't broke, don't try to be a smarty pants and end up making the online credit card payment process unnecessarily convoluted while at the same time ludicrously insecure.

Sigh. Just surrender already laaaaaaaah.

But such employees aren't paid to exercise or have common sense.

They aren't even paid to copy intelligently.

Accept that you have (many) 3rd world people living in a (supposedly) 1st world infrastructure.

It's kinda like when the rocket shoots off, and your insides aren't accelerating at the same rate.

Puke 'em out.

paul, that was a very poor effort at making up names for our schools. you were much more creative that night enroute to siau's place/total sloshed-ness. i expect more from you, especially since you are clearly underemployed :P

i managed to get the sistic thing to work. now, fingers crossed that i do not incur the wrath of the fickle gods of Singpost...

That is a blatantly unfairly comparison. You overrate my potential.

That night in question was assisted by us being in Pasir Ris and observing endless instances of meaningless school names (some of which I am unable to spell).

More importantly, they are school names that will no doubt be horribly mispronounced and misunderstood by its students.

At best, the names would get so mangled and localised to the point of bastardisation... a micro-J-curve effect, if you will.... where we could then at least console ourselves that it represents some flimsy notion of local 'history' and 'culture'.

That those two terms are hungry-hippo broad-spectrum carpet-bombing blanket catch-alls (pretty much everything observed must be 'history' and anything abnormal or normal (i.e. anything) can be 'culture'), should be lost on everyone who also needed the parenthesised explanation in this unusually long sentence.
